I was probably supposed to be assessing my defenses, checking out what my neighbors were up to, etc. However, I did not care about that. I've done that stuff in games prior to Lords Mobile that the familiarity and repetition held little interest. I wanted to go handle some creature fights and collect heroes.

Lords Mobile's hero mode gets a thumb up from me. The developers have the idea of how to make a fun game they just have to cut down.
